This has good sounds and was pretty easy to figure out even with out the manual. I have a few problems that might require the manual. It seems to be stuck in omni mode (recieving on all MIDI channels) I want to turn Omni off and assign it to a specific MIDI channel but no luck so far. ANone who has the manual or who has figured this out know how to do this.

Akai Xe-8 Drum Module, great 1U rack module for playing 16-bit drum samples triggered via midi, Sound samples are of excellent quality. The unit has 8 separate audio outs and 1 mix out, meaning you can assign drum samples to any of these ports to then patch into a mixer with external effects, to beef up the sounds even more. The unit comes with 16 internal sounds and 2 external cards which give a further 32 sounds. The unit is 8 note polyphonic. Drum kits consist of Kicks, snares, toms, hats, crash's, rides, rimshots, claps, percussion and even an orchestra hit. The only let down of this unit is the programming interface on the front panel, you have to edit parameters with 2 or 3 control knobs and a 2 digit LED display, quite time consuming, and yes you do need the owners manual to have any idea of where to even start editing the unit, even to get it to respond to general midi note assignments. Well here is a treat for anyone interested, I have owne'd one of these for many years and written a Windows pc editor for it, it's free to all you poor people out there who are having difficulty programming it, contact me for details or visit my website.

I've got one - it's great!

I don't have a manual either, but it only took me about 10 minutes to figure it out...email me directly if you need help or if you have any questions about it, Boris...
