If you have a computer that can cope with it (most should be able to!), and a spare midi in/out (very important!), it's awesome.

You can build just about whatever your mind can think up, in terms of conventional synth architecture. Want 5 oscillators, one with FM, feeding into 3 independent filters? ok!

It's also an excellent outboard processor; as well as the cool vocoding functions, you can compress or add effects to outside sounds, though that's a bit of an understatement, considering you can make an external audio event trigger whatever you fancy.

The feel of the box is lovely; it's even smaller in the flesh than it looks in pictures (i'd only ever seen it on the web), & the buttons have a rubbery finish and move with confidence-inspiring solidity.

The only real downer is the polyphony; i could use about 10 of them, at least! Ah well.. sampling that killer sound & replaying it won't hurt too much.

If you've got the money, and are into tweaking, buy it.

Here are the few, if any downsides:

Limited polyphony. It will usually be from 1-4, so if you're looking to play chords, don't get this.

Only 3 assignable knobs and one button. This doesn't allow too much real-time control.

But the biggest plus: It's really F***ing awesome.

If you can get one of these, go ahead and do so.
