I owned one from 1981 upto 1987. Then I gave it away to someone who was into music education for disabled children. Besides, I didn't have enough room for all my equipment at that time. Actually, it was my very first synth. A good one to start with as it is very simple. Still it has a good sound, better than you'd think when looking at it, sporting just one VCO! Besides the usual LFO it has a separate "vibrato" knob. It's got white AND pink noise. Could make some pretty special sounds with it in no time. It's just a cute little synth... but I'm getting a bit nostalgic now!

The Jen is a odd synth, doesn't have that much options.....but it has something better........character and personality.

And it looks beautifull, with wooden cheeks, and nice big colored knobs.

Ignore all the synth-wanker guys who are too obsessed with the numbers and letters on their little boxes rather than the sound that actually comes out of them. The Jen is a WONDERFUL synth. Clear, strong, warm tones that cut through a mix without being overbearing. It can swoop and bubble and recreate videogame bass tones without any external effects. There are no frills, nothing unnecessary, just a 70s analogue at a price anyone can afford with a gorgeous tone to rival any Moog. Even better, the Jen is an inexpensive must-have for live shows and touring. If you're interested in playing your instruments (instead of your computer playing them for you) snap one up - hell, buy two for good measure.

By the way, there IS no white SX1000 as far as I know, it's simply a white paper overlay to record settings (most models don't have them any more, of course, which is a shame).

I got my SX1000 about 4 years ago, it was sat in the back of a strongroom at my High School! An awesome little piece of kit. You can create anything from warm lead lines to acid bass'. If you can find one snap it up! The black one is nicer than the white though!

Yeah! These are the babies from your dreams....

Found one about 14 years or so ago for £40 and, despite the presence of bits 'n' pieces of more 'sought after' synths about, this is the one that takes the most keymashing.

Wonderful! Get one at ANY cost - forget the monophonic pessimism and just let fly...
