A great workhorse. I bought it when it first came out in 1989 for $199, and 12 years later in 2001 it still sounds great. The memory battery had to be replaced in 2000. K-1 sounds, splits & layers, drum machine with intro & breaks, and built in stereo speakers make it perfect for plugging into the cigarette lighter and jamming at the beach. I've even used it on some gigs as my only instrument, and it works fine as a controller to add a second keyboard to my rig. I'd never consider selling it.

funny little box, bought it since my k-4 is dead, sounds like a kawai, light and airy and eighties. i love kawai products, I have had many of them. it's good sounding exept it sends bank change messages and I can't shut off. not a real synth just a playback mod.

Actually, I use a K1 extensively. If ya notice, the PH50 has all of the original k1 prestes in it! This makes it useful for layering those string and organ sounds, as well as fat choir pads....hey, "it is, what it is!" And if you want a cheap controller, or sound module to bring on the gig, what is better?
