just a quick note to anyone who is complaining about the 'low' (32 khz) sample rate.....

get a grip.

I hear people complaining all the time about poor sound quality or lack of warmth and it's all anal rubbish. I mean, it's not wrong, there is a difference between the way all of these differnt things sound, but lets get this in perspective people; today we are spoilt with high quality audio, and once you get to a certain point (which most of us are well past), it has very little to do with musicality. 50 years ago, the kind of sound repduction quality we are used to now wasn't even approachable! and it didn't stop anyone making good music then.

this es1 sampler is a fantastic instrument and should be held up as an example to other music tecnology makers. it is a creative tool that has massive potential.

use this box to push the limits of your own creativity, not to create generic dance tunes. and for gods sake get a grip and stop worring about little audio qualitly differences, you will only stop your self from making music if this is all you care about.

i dont have that one, but the new esx-1 is awesome. higher sampling rate, awesome fat sounds. i havent even sampled anything yet and i love it. good fx options. my favorite is the compressor. this thing can do basically any kind of electronica. i founf it very easy to program and ive only had it for a day! woke up at 1 in the morning and figured it out all in one session... anyway korg definitely has a real nice product going here. i dont really have any complaints. i also have a novation k station that i will eventually use with the esx-1. that will be a killer combo.

The Electribe S is fabulous. I use mine linked together with the Electribe M. And those two are all you need to make killer dance tracks. The Electribe M takes care of the rhythm section & the Electribe S the vocals & chords. Korg are making some incredible instruments lately. These small boxes have a big sound and great hands on feel. Making killer music is inspiring & fun. I really love those motion sequencers too.

You can most certainly do odd time signatures with the ES-1. I have even composed beats for a waltz! There is an option to change the rhythm from mere 4/4, it's all in there. Check the manual.

An awesome piece of kit, put this together with the fabulous Microkorg. And we're talking killer dance cutz for less than $800 dollars on the second hand market. I don't know how Korg do it. They're making the coolest kit for the musician on the street of the last 3 or 4 years, major respect to them...
