It's the BIG one.

Bought 1997 it for sound installations and electronic experiments (go/see www.artinvaders.com). It sounds great in every aspect (esp. VAST plus KDFX) and is extremly versatile. Never experienced any technical problems.

If you can get hold of one, go get it!

I bought my K2500x in 1996 after a lot of thought i spoke nicely to my bank manager and bought one, i was lucky to know the owner of the music shop and bought it trade price. I had changed synths regularly over the previous 10 years and hoped that this would be a synth to end all synths. I was right it is, having used it for 5 years i still fell i am only scrathing the surface of its potential. The sounds are without equal, good feeling keyboard (its actually made by fatar!!)and great sampling options and filters. Mine has not been trouble free, 7 weeks away to no find an intermittent fault which had gone on its return, and new digital/analog chips on the main outs. However i wouldnt swap it for anything.

I just bought my k2500xs a few days ago. This is my first keyboard I picked it up brand new for $2500US. In the last couple of days I have been able to understand the programs, run the sepuncer, hook up my other instruments, and make the best mix I have ever done. I love it. Its sounds are amazing, better than any keyboard I had the chance to preview, and the ability to read dos files makes it great for sampling also the standard: scsi, optical ins outs, make it very expandable. It will probably take me a year to find any serious faults. The only real complaint is the stock sound. I play techno so all of the strings and pianos are kind of unwanted I would like to see some kicking synth sounds and off the wall techno samples. lastely stock sample ram is weak after installing presets I have only 56k left, pretty cheesy.

I bought mine in late 1995 so it's one of the early models, it's been gigged a few times, opened up for installing extra memory, knocked, dropped and I've never had a problem with it, in fact it's been the most reliable synth I've ever owned.

It's also the "wasps nipples" when it comes to a synth/sampler hybrid.
