I've had my fatman for 8 months now and i absolutely love it! I built it in 2 days, had no real electronics experience beforehand, and it worked great the first time I fired it up. PAiA's instruction manuals are the best (I built a Theremax too) and take you through step by step...it's almost like a paint-by-number deal. Sounds really menacing with a bit of distortion and some delay. Effects definitely help it out. Mods are redily available on the net...I recommend the osc sync mod and the rez max switch...also grafted a repeating attack/sustain (almost a LFO) but it can be kinda buggy sometimes (probably due to faulty work on my part). I bought a cheep-o dummy MIDI keyboard controller for use with a computer...really cheep keyboard for the Fatman; Can crank out some awesome basslines when i control it with my TR-626(if the 626 isn't good for anything else....). I'd recommend this synth to anyone wanting to try their hand at DIY, or anyone after a true fat analogue sound...building it gives you a very personal attachment to it.

Very goovy. Took an experinced friend and I (with very little experience with solder) about a month to build it ..but that was really stretching out the procces. I built the enclosure for it from the $20 paia kit. Makes it look cooler I think. It has a tough, deep sound good for rap/HIP HOP and techno. It makes that vintages moog kind of space flute noise too. Cool.. a great value for how many possible uses. I've only used it a little bit..I look forward to funking out with it in the future. The blue face panel makes it look really hip.

definetly the best bang for the buck synth. Nice strings and pads and it can

be very punchy. I love it.
