This machine is a workhorse. You have to spend a little time to REALLY get into what this machine does best. But it is Worth the effort!

I bought an R5 as my first drum machine a six months ago. The samples are usable and very editable for this type of unit. A lot of the sounds are not my thing. Many late model Roland drum samples in this machine, although many parameters to tweak. Nice feel patches. Pretty professional and flexible despite the limitation to the stock sounds. Gotta get a Pro sampler next.
