Great synth, makes my MS20 collect dust, but I seriously need a users manual. The layout is not very intuitive. In fact it makes me loose my sleep and makes my head funny. A manual anyone? Please mail me.

i think it's fab, as you can tell from my description on the main page. i also
think that if you want to contact me, you should use the e-mail address contained
in this review, since after THREE REQUESTS to synthsite's webmaster to correct the
address in my main description, it still hasn't been changed. i'd love to hear
from you fellow SH5 fans!

This and my mini-moog are the two synths that I use most. The modulation on this is fantastic. If you assign each LFO, Sample/Hold, to a different destination, you can get tons of movement. It's also possible to get the sound of another LFO form screwing with the ADSR. There's no much variability with the rate, but I haven't been able to get anything similar out of any other synth. I wish every synth had two filters, and a similar mixer section. If only Roland had kept on with complex designs like this on their other mono-synths.

roland sh5 is one of the more versatile synths I have ever worked with. The combination of the different oscilators, ring mods, and filters are almost infinite if you bother to work uot its different constellations.
Almost,(almost that is), as fun to use as the vcs3.
