Gotta go with you guys on this one. I place only the Mighty Oberheim DMX above this baby for punch and sonic quality. It's a very simple machine but the sounds are KILLER. The snare has almost the same crisp punchy sound as a DMX and that takes some doing. The Bass drum has as much punch as a 909 but more character. It is better in my opinion. And the hi-hats are meaty and blistering. A great clap and toms too. Although it has only 8 on board sounds you can get cartridges for latin, electronic & effects for more variation. and the second hand going price at the moment. This machine is an absolute bargain. I got one on Ebay and am very glad I did, for Techno, or any kind of dance music this machine is great. The most amazing thing about this baby is that it's digital and yet blows Sequentials other big gun (Drumtraks) away. And don't know how they managed that but I am impressed!

Synaptic Gap a professional user from America writes:
The Sequential Tom is a superb machine, the programmability of it is out of this world.I use this on all my tracks and it is superb for break beats. The ability to overlap the same sounds on the same beat up to 4 times is awsome.Mix the kick drum with a tuned down tom and this will bang with the best of them with the right compression and eq.Works great with other drum machines and has a sound that cuts through a mix like a knife but also sits in the mix. These are cheap at the moment but I think that is going to change because these really are a secret weapon in your sonic arsenal.I will never sell mine ever it is just to important i actually prefer it to the drum traks and i have both. have made house tracks using this machine and the kick drum when engineered properly BANGS!!!!.

The contempory cart I have been told is a must have but I don't have this....Shame.

Get one of these machines you will not be dissapointed.

This and Casio synths are the only good digital pieces of equipment in existence. This drum machine is as good as or better than an 808 or 909 for the price of a 606 or 707. Buy one or two right now.

all these reviews (several of wich are dance related artists)and its STILL rated 5!!!! i think that tells us all something.........SEQUENTIAL TOM'S are loved drum machines and there is a stir in the dance underground starting on this machine. I have cranked out trip-hop to emb industrial to dark minimal hard trance with this machine (with the help of a couple budget multi-fx units). itsnt it about time FUTURE MUSIC does a retro review of the TOM? seeing as how its gaining popularity and has become a highly loved and wanted machine? i think so..... anyhow, I have used everything from TR-707's to DX's to yamahas RX's to CR's to basically everything and NONE of them compair to the sounds of this machine. i allready own 2 TOMS (one's dead unfortunately) and i am looking to get another one. if you have one sell it to me!!!!! top rating for a top drum machine (who says all old digital drum machines suck?) this one RULES!!!!!!
