Got my Prophet 2000 in 85,- the first one in Denmark. I have allways been pleased with it, and i am sad, that SCI didn't carry on their great job. The Prophet is a first class sampler with a great and warm sound, that couldn't be challenged (?) by any other sampler at the time,- and it is still my only sampler. In the compagny of the Prophet VS, it is a great way of programming the vector-synth to do samplelike sounds. If you find a Prophet 2000,- buy it.

Howard Ayee a professional user from CANADA writes:
I think the P2000\2002 is a great sounding sampler, when you consider how beefy

those typically fat Prophet filters were! I have the new 16-bit AKAI samplers,

but I use them for other reasons. Because of the great filters, the P2000\2002 becomes

a very effective synth as well (try using the filtering on drum sounds...), all you

need is a good waveform to sample, and you can emulate almost any retro-synth.

Also the unique 'STACK' mode, something I've not heard done quite so well on any

other sampler since! The OS was sort-of a pain-in-the-butt, but, once mastered

became second nature (besides- it's the sound that counts!). The midi spec was

pretty good too.

At the current give-away prices, grab one (even if only for the great filters and

cool arpeggiator), and check it out!

Jani Grönman a professional user from Finland writes:
Sequential Prophet 2000 is a great sampler for analogue and other old sounds

because it has so powerful and flexible fiters(they are analogue). You can easily

create some thick fat basses and ass-rippind arpeggio-sounds as well as powerful

pads.

It`s also good

for drumloops- and sounds. It isn´t so much of a hi-tech instrument anymore,

but that´s the thing that makes it so great-it´s not perfect.

It´s at its best when you use it mainly as a synth, not like some million bucks

Akai CD3000, which can be used as all-digital recording studio.

Despite the pain-in-the-arse-operating system and its lack of memory Prophet 2000

is a darn good piece of a machine.
