I should remind people that this has a patch randomiser that to be frank can creat some of the most insane and weird noises i ever heard , i owned this synth 3 times now and it cant be replaced , i also used the ppg vst ( bland vsti sound ) and the microwave mk1 ( yeah more retro sound and better on some levels ) but the xt has this 90's sci fi tone that even the mk1 doesnt , the xt is the closest of the bunch to the giant waldorf wave , its sound is very close .One realbonus of this machine is the modulation matrix and math functions , it llows multiplication of modulation sources and when you patch to filter or pitch etc it can get insane on sequenced lines , like semi random but ordered control data ? and strange melodic tunings result .I used over 3o synths to date and this ones an absolute classic.

Its weakness is that it tends to dwarf a mix , i like using this in work where its the only source or paired with something like a p5 .It can be a cold world the xt and you dont always want that but for cold stark sci fi landscapes and dark worlds of sound , alien noizes and even for light crystaline waterfalls of sund i think this is a stunner. The blofeld is a good #new ' xt but doesnt have the xt's tone or quality ofsound , had a brittlness at tones , really limited poly and i think an interface thats just wrong.

This thing is different then most. If sound creation is important to you then get this....They keep their value, built from metal....knobs are very solid and the sound is like a Prophet VS....I have that too and they are very similar sounding.....The filter on the VS is a bit better but the filter on the XT for being a digital one it sounds excellent....quite dynamic. I love this one very much for it's organic sound...it could sound warm, analog, cold, scary you name it. It's not extremely easy to understand it all but I know it can produce any sound you have ever heard if you tweak it right....Get one!!!!

Awesome! Wavetable synthesis is indescribable, you have to try it. This synth is the ultimate for weird fx and noises, grinding, ripping and shredding! With all those knobs you'd be hard pressed to not enjoy operating it. I can't even compare it to anything else I've used. The sound is totally unique. Make a nice pad, then switch wavetables and gasp in horror as it turns into a sickening gurgling noise. It kicks ass! It's even a totally hideous color so when people come into your studio, they're like 'what the hell is that thing?' Do NOT buy this if you want realistic sounds. If you want the sound of a frenzied chainsaw battle between two cyborgs from hell, get it! Trent Reznor used two of them to get those shredding noises in NIN. How can he be wrong?

The synth of my dreams is the XTk but I couldn't afford it so when I had the chance, I bought the XT. Now I'm so happy. It's the best synth I've ever used.
