I picked up mine for £200 in Turnkey last October! From the moment I switched it on, I fell in love with it! What you get is half an AN1X plus a drum machine complete with low pass filters! In other words you get a sound similar to a JP8000 but much more versatile. My only critism is that you need to use an editor or be proficient at sys-ex to really dig deep into the AN200`s power. For me it excels at fat, modulated, trancey riffs perfect for trance, psy-trance and techno!

I bought the AN-200 (on e-bay) to fill out my home studio setup, which includes a Korg ES-1 sampler/sequencer. I considered the Korg EA-1 but thought the basic synth engine and filters were a bit too wimpy for my taste. By comparison, I can easily make my AN-200 sound just like my long departed, but beloved, Minimoog - Phat & sweet! Many reviewers have complained about the cheezy, pre-set, drum sounds in the sequencer, but I let the ES-1 handle those chores for me. I have been using a vintage Casio CZ-1000 FM synth midi'ed to the AN-200 and have been just blown away by the array of cool sounds.

WOW!!! 200 bucks at guitar center....I use it as a sound module, and/or for sampling sounds into the MPC3000 & MPC60 for fatening, and/or just playing it, directly recording to PT...havent even dug into the software on my MAC yet...but it sounds so fuckin good....inspires my creativity....NICE BASS....and all of this for 200 bucks. 5 out of 5. A tweakers dream.
IT IS NOT A TOY....take advantage of Yamaha's poor marketing and buy one now. I will be picking up the DX200 next week.
