I like this synth very much.I have other synths: an1x,juno2,jx8p,jupiter4,polysix,d50.Comparing to these,CS30 has the most serious and professional sound. The tune is very stable even if it's totally pure abalog. The bad side is that it's monophonic and there is no way to write patch other than a pen and a paper. It has almost 50 knobs and this gives you an idea of its power in generating original and strange sounds.Probably not the best choice for a beginner, but with a bit of patience you learn all the secrets to program it.Sound goes from chemical brs to 70's lead sound. Not the best machine for DnB basses.I'm very proud to have it,I paid a low price from a friend,I'd like it was the cs30 without the L and with the sequencer but...

Steveo a part time user from UK writes:
This is probably the most complex monosynth outside of a modular that you'll ever see.....its also probably one of the biggest ....it differs from the CS30 in that it has no sequencer and it has some extra performance controls and it comes with crappy 50's coffee table legs !!! Very Retro .....But its a balst and confusing to beginners , capable of some very powerful bass using the typical Yamaha trick of being able to mix in a raw sinewave with the two oscillators......tons of flexibility and a unique matrix switching system for assigning ENV Gens etc - only weak point is ONE LFO ...Boooooo !! And typically weak but sweet Yamaha filters ...this synth is definately one for the experimenter and I aint gonna sell mine to nobody - its unique in the monosynth world. Very nice indeedio....
