I have owned many synths. My current setup is a Roland xp80 and a motif rack. My other secret weapon which I will keep forever is the PSR 550. at first glance it looks like a cheap casio portable with fancier buttons but this keyboard is a relatively undiscovered monster and the only keyboard which produces very convincing DX7 Rhodes sounds coupled with the added benefit of built in effects. You can actually program and save any complex rythm you can dream up. I have created amazing merengue and songo rhytms on this board and everytime I've played live people have been very surprised by the sounds that come out of this board. It is capable of layering and splitting sounds. I have never used the built in sequencer because I prefer the one on my xp80 but soundwise this board to me is more useful than the Korg M1. There is an excellent assortment of electric piano sounds that can be combined in any way and will rival Yamaha's own DX7II. The piano sounds are fair although the keys on this board actually feel like cheap low quality. But overall I must say this is a performer's keyboard and you can't go wrong in owning one.

Excellent keyboard for professional or home use. Very versatile, good price for the inmense posibilities of sound mixing available. I also had a psr 350 which I sold in favour of the 550. Only drawback is it doesn't have a "merengue" rhythm option. But you can always get around that to achieve the desired output.

Great keyboard. I've had great time creating a lot of things with this keyboard. For the price it 's quiet an investment. I especially like the variations one can do with DSP on any instrument. I've had PSR's 400,410,510 and 540 but this one really stood out!
