I was thinking of picking up one of these units to use with a duo. Nothing majorjust basic background....How much should I expect to pay for one of these things or what else is out there for the novice sequencer user?

I bought this to use as a "scratch pad" for ideas...by the time I did all the button pushing, my ideas were long gone and forgotten! The sequencer is simply worthless! If only it could record in real-time. :-( The sounds are o.k. like the acoustic bass and piano. In fact, the only thing this is good for is if you use it as a sound module with a MIDI controller keyboard. But then you might as well get a PSR series keyboard and get more and better sounds!

The QY8 is a toy and must be considered like that. But you will be surprised
with the stuff that can be done with it...
Do anyone know of places where to exchange experiences with or related to
the QY8?

It's a good introductory sequencer but somewhat limited in the range of uses it has. I use it for backing tracks and stuff, but nothing serious. The sounds have dated and 90% aren't really useable now. I use it with a midi keyboard and you can record in realtime with that. I've had some fun with it but I want a better sound module now!
