Just bought one at a car boot sale for a fiver but haven't yet plugged it in. The manual is available here: soundprogramming.net/manuals/drum/Yamaha_RX15_Manual.pdf (put www in front).

Marcopolo a professional user from UK writes:
A great little unit and the whole point of using it, is not for it sound realistic. For that we have epic sample libraries. It's many years since drum machines were intended to replace drum parts and fool the listener.

A great bass drum and I use it all the time as a sound module for specific parts.

Not the most versatile but hey I paid $30.

Paul Zimmerman a professional user from USA writes:
Very easy to program-- I still do all my drum sequences on this machine. If I need other sounds, I just match the MIDI note number.

I still like the sound of it-- it had the most realistic ride cymbal after all those analog drum machines that preceded it. It has a heavier and warmer sound than many newer digital machines.

Still, it serves my needs today as it feeds sequences into other tone modules.

I bought the RX15 a couple of months ago for $50. All the original patterns are not in the unit. Does anyone have the original patterns on cassette? Or know where to go to find them.
