My friend owns one of these beasts (AWE 64) His biggest problem complaint is that it won't accept midi input from his keyboard. It will however accept midi in from my Kawai K3 however. There is nothing wrong with his keyboard though, because he can use it to input to his older AWE32 or SB16 sound cards. The people at Creative Labs haven't been able to figure out the problem. I like the sounds that it produces, but the Voyetra Orchestrator Plus software bundled with it is also a bit flakey. It might be fine as sequencing software but dont expect to mix 16 channels of .WAV files. If you mix CD quality tracks (44.1khz 16 bit), your resultant .WAV file size could easily be 320 MEGS for 4 minutes of 16 tracks. On my friends computer, it jumbled up the entire file!
Anyways botom line is this . awe64 sounds great but try with your own midi controller first. DOP may be good as a sequencer with a few .WAVs.
