Just got one of these - after searching for over 2 years - and i didn´t hesistate, although i had to pay 800 Euros, was i ripped off? Not really, because this IS the best string ensemble EVER. Better than Logan, better than Crumar, it just that that classic quality that is the trademark of legendary productions from the disco aera. If you want the very best, you gotta have this. I only regret I didn´t buy one some years ago, since they are going up in price. Use it with a vintage pahaser pedal, like Electro-Harmonics.

JUST TO LET U KNOW I FIND IT QUITE AMUSING BUT I FOUND A SOLINA STRING ENSEMBLE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN A BOIX IN MINT CONDITION...... AND I LIKE IT A LOT ...

Not very versatile, but does make a beautiful string sound. Fully polyphonic VCO! Split keyboard! I am sorry for getting rid of mine, but they are very big and heavy.

A nice looking and classic sounding stringer. It is better sounding than the Yamaha and Logan units mentioned below. The sound is very soulful, even meloncholic in its quality. The solina is very reliant on its chorus unit. The sounds are very thin without it. The solina looks like it's made out of proper wood, when, in fact, it's cheap chip board. This makes accident damage very obvious and important. Owners will know what I mean.
Because of its classic unmistakeable look, I doubt you will ever be able to pick one up cheaply. The Arp Omni costs less and is the same thing internally. They sound identical. Its case is made of steel, so it's safer to move about. Both Arps are rare now. They've all been collected and are being looked after, which is good. This will disappoint would-be owners and will force the price up. The Quadra is a great unit. But even more rare and expensive. Such is life!
