I am a professional musician and have been looking for a general all rounder. I use the X5DR along side a prophecy and AKI3000, it fills the gaps nicely. Pound for pound I don't think their is any competition at this level. nice one korg ..!

Doug Melbourne a part time user from UK writes:
Great Unit, simple in design, and great sounds! I play in an early Genesis tribute band called ReGenesis, and I will definitely be using the Rhodes piano and some of the organ sounds on gigs. Complaints? Acoustic Piano sounds not great, but I use a Roland P55 for them anyway.

Joske uit Eindhoven a hobbyist user from Netherlands writes:
The X5DR sounds much better than the NS5R, I think Korg used some cheap parts for the NS5R to be able to impress everybody with the specs (12megs, 1100+ sounds). I bought the X5DR because I already had an excellent digital piano (Yamaha GT2, the best there is!) and needed some extra sounds (DX7 pianos, strings, Organs, Brass). I only paid $500 for it (not second hand). I also have an 01/W synth, I think the sounds quality of the X5DR is the same as the 01/W

Whoah! This kicks some serious butt!!! My buddy has an X3 which I always loved the sounds from so when I found this puppy I just had to buy it. No regrets it sounds great and works great with my D70.

Ricky Ng a part time user from Singapore writes:
Dont buy the new ones, go for second hand. Although the sounds are good, most are thin, and noisy. You cannot compare it to the 01 series, even the M1 piano, Universe patches sound thinny compared to the M1 itself. X5dr did not use 44.1khz( obvious)sampling rate. It is very much lower, resulting in some very noisy patches eg Lore, Pipe dreams. Not for the professionals, adequate as a GM replay module.
