Excellent module. The best piano sounds bar none. Other useful sounds as well but this half rack module is the perfect addition to the Motif ES which has everything BUT a good piano sound. Bought mine off Ebay for $300. Wish it had a midi light but for that price it's a steal. Just did a jazz session and it blew the studio engineers away.

Can't believe the post knocking the Kurzweil piano sounds. I know sounds are always a matter of personal choice, but the piano on my K2600X is still in my opinion the best I've heard, (and aparently the ME1 is even better). I've recently tested the piano plug-in for my Motif as well as the Korg Oasys with piano plug-in and their piano sounds were miles behind the Kurzweil's.

I play full time in church and I bought this module because I have been a fan of Kurzweil piano's for years. If you're looking for something small and not too complicated, this is your answer. I personally don't like alot of buttons because I don't have patience to learn all the ins and outs of something like that. I just want quality sound. And that's what you get with this module.

I do have a few gripes about the piano's though. I found them too mellow, except for a copy. Bank A Voice 7 and Bank B Voice 4 are the brightest and closest to Kurzweil's more pro products. When I'm using this at home, I have mine wired into my Behringer MX602A mixer and EQ'd things a little to get brighter sound. After doing that, I am very pleased with the results. I like the EP's and Strings. A couple of the vibes sounded nice. Other than that I found most of the sounds useless. But that's okay because I really only bought this for the piano sounds.

Overall I find this a very nice unit and would buy it again if lost. However I do recommend you at least wire it into some type of mixer where you can EQ the sound a bit.

I bought the ME-1 about 3 months ago. The sounds in this box live up to my expectations. My favorite thing about this is, when i get a song idea, I have it connected and I can just dial in a nie piano sound and record and I have a great-sounding piano track in 5 minuites. Nothing special, just plug in and I get a great piano sound. I often then track strings and bass over that, which this module delivers well. There is SO MUCH dynamic range to the piano sounds its amazing. You can control the amount of reverb and chorus indepedently on each effect. There are some very nice EP samples (C12) and some of the harpsichord ones are amazing as well. Its small, not very expensive, I reccomend it.

Want my advice? Don't buy this thing. This is a typical Kurzweil sample player. That means that it sounds artificial, thin, hollow, boxy and plastic. The piano is a joke. Don't buy anything from Kurzweil. At the same time they are the most expensive company. Unbelievable.
