If you like synths - get one. You WON'T be dissapointed. Gobs and gobs of useful parameters, easy and intuitive to program. OK, there's only a 3 digit LCD, but as long as you have the manual (a MUST have) you'll soon learn your way around. The only other bummers - it's NOT multi-timbral, and the presets are just OK. Apart from that, they're very well designed and CHEAP! Just get one.

Screaming distorted leads and massive bass lines are no problem for this piece of kit. Pad sounds are passable but try as i might they never sound big enough for my liking. Interface has never been a problem for me but you do have to get used to that 3 digit lcd display... vocoder is awesome and you can also feed external audio through the filters, envolopes and lfo's which is nice. Midi control information can be used to control just about everything and it transmits these messages as well so automation of different things is easy. well worth the (stupidly small amount of) money it'll cost you to get hold of one.

"No good for strings and pads" That's a bit of a sweeping statement isn't? Admittedly you aren't going to get Obie strings and pad sounds out of this synth but it does Juno-esque strings no problems.

Strikes me if you aren't getting good strings and pads out of this thing you just aren't programming it all that well. Do your research and you can get some nice strings, etc. out of this synth.

This is a great sounding module capable of producing some good bass sounds.

No good for strings and pads, good for producing bright sounds.

I have been using this synthesiser in my studio now for about 6 months and I find it to be a usefull sound creating tool which would benefit any studio. The sound is suprisingly smooth and seems to have a sort of rounded sound to it.This machine is not analogue and I don't think it should be used to impersonate an analogue synth but it does do it quite well.(if you want analog then get an analog synth). This machine can produce beautiful pads with a lot of 'air' in them and deep pounding basses and smmmmmoooooth stab sounds it is a very nice synth. I have loads of real analog synths(ARP quadra's ,roland 106,101,sequential kit) and I still find a use for this beautiful machine. In short get one you will not be dissapointed and for the price well a good night out will cost you the same so stay in for a night and buy one of these instead, class.well done Novation. oh forgot to mention the vocoder on do they do it for so little cash. i am giving it a 5 out of 5. people say programming is a bit fiddly, hmmm,i don't think it is,most important sound shaping can be done from the front panel dials and the menu although a bit cryptic is easy to pick up.
