In 1996 it was a real big thing, nowadays the sound lacks a bit of quality. Something I always liked was the warm, old sound of the Raven. In the beginning the sequencer was also a nice pleasure. Great Sounds I recommend are sets of TR808, TR606. The 909 Hats are really cheap. The Modular Kick and the Snares are one of the biggest hits in the Raven. Naturally the RatBass was always a pleasure, probably the most significant sound, maybe the best sound in it. Indeed it is organic warm, the organ sounds are also pretty good. The ResoWaves very original. Problem is the FX Section, mostly very cheap and noisy, except the Phaser / WahWahs / Overdrive FXs are nearly pro. The Leads are quite useful, one of the real good things are the OBX Strings and VS Pads and one thing you can be sure, this German vintage Synth has character and charisma.

I dident find nothing special about it at all. Although its good for dance music, i'll be selling mine and returning to my other dance orientated gear. SOME nice sounds which come 1 notch up to standard in my eyes. Imma give this synth 3 because I feel its cool but also boring.

IMHO the real beauty of the Raven is only realized when you play with it. The interface is best described as natural and intuitive, almost so you can play it in the dark, with your ear as the guide. I find it refreshing and fun to play something deep that isnt full of programming and menus for a change. This baby feels organic, and interactive, almost like its alive and actually jamming with you!! :-) Awesome!
