I love the Fantom! A little bit of an odd size for SKB cases, but I found a Gator case model (GK-276R) that fits it perfectly. Just wanted to let you know. I love the optical out hooked up to my CD burner. It makes a great sounding recording. Way to go, Roland!

I disagree with a 75% rating on analog sounds. I have created patches which are indistinguishable from my Doepfer A-100 and my Oberheim Matrix 1000. I guess the only reason you would subtrack 25% is because the Fantom is a digital synth, or, the TVF doesn't break into oscillation. I have only had mine for 2 weeks and I am still amazed every day by new features. I'm blown away by the interface, every thing is one click deep it seems - better than most web pages ;) The sequencer rivals some old favorites from my Atari days. The modulation matrix is cool and easy to use, but, could use more than 4 sources like the Matrix 1000. I thought the D-Beam was silly at first, but, I find I can actually use it while tracking. And, the SPDIF out make tracking quite and clean - the way I like :-) I think one of the best features that makes this synth usable is it mixes well with other instruments. At first, I had to give up my ASR-10 to make room for the Fantom, but now, the ASR-10 is collecting dust. Any takers?

I HAD NEVER TRIED A ROLAND SYNTH BEFORE. THEN I BOUGHT A XP-50, NOW MY NEW FANTOM. I THOUGHT KORG WAS THE LEADER OF SYNTHS, BUT AFTER I PERFORM IN A ROLAND WITH ITS SWEET SOUNDS, MY PERFORMANCES ARE BETTER AND EASIER. FANTOM IS EASIER TO PERFORM THAN XP-50, BUT BOTH DESERVE MY RESPECT. ACOUSTIC SOUNDS ARE GREAT, AND I DEFENITIVELY GIVE IT THE HIGHEST SCORE.
