The Greatest Era of Roland Analog Poly synthesizers started with the Jupiter-8 and ended with a Scream of the MKS-80.
We are using 3 of them in the recording studio and we never stoped to be amazed by the new sounds that are created.
just giving any keyboardist the option to program it thru the MPG-80 make us dance all over again.
Try the unison with half way detuning and you'll understand why this was called thr Super-Jupiter.
A roland tech was quoted saying:
" We will never reach this point again "
pure Analog Bliss.

I forgot to mention here that the Super Jupiter is capable of full MIDI sysex. you can change any parameters thru Midi and recorded to a sequencer. think of the endless possibilities.
There are way to many parameters to list here but I think there are about 60-65 knob/sliders/pots on the MPG-80 to give you an idea.
there are some MKS-80 programs for PC on the net, make a search and you'll find them.
I bought the KID-Nipro sounds for the MKS-80 and they do sound good but better yet, edit them to your liking and youll see what this instrunebt is made of. It is good to use with a velocity/After touch keyboard to utilized all the features.

collecting synths is an art that takes many years and a lot of understanding and expirience. I read the reviews here and was very mad at some of you. How can you talk bad about a perfect analog synth? the MKS-80 is not a jupiter 8 and a Jupiter 8 is not a Super Jupiter. simply put - this is my favorite all time synthesizer ! there is no sound that you can't program on this huge sounding fast acting acid filtering beast.
Think of 2 - 100% pure Analog VCO's -each with 4 waveforms/+ noise.
Cross modulation, LFO and detuning plus syncing.
2 of the fastest 100% Analog ADSR envelopes with Tracking/polarity/velocity.
16 real Analog VCO oscilators in unison with Detuning...
a supreme 4 pole analog VCF filter that screams...! ( only on Ver 4) with all the goodies you want inckuding a HP filter.
This is just a machine that screams "Edit me" so many parameters and logicaly orgenized in a perfect order.
The ram is huge but you can use the Cartridges called M-64C for extra 128 voices/patches
The patches can be made out of 2 sounds panning L-R in stereo and create a huge stacked sound or just split the board in half.
huge/Warm/Sharp/Acid/Deep/colorful sound imagined.
No keyboard /Arp ( it would of be a 200 lb...)
only 2 -LFO's ( you don't realy miss them with all these parameters)
The Super Jupiter MKS-80/MPG-80 is without a doubt, One of the best Real Analog- Synthesizer to come across the last 30 years. I hate to compare synths but if I had to, I would take the Super Jup any day over Prophrt-5 OB-8 or any other Analog except for the Jupiter-8 which have a little better VCO's (in the JUP-8 - all electronic VCO's boards) Be patient and learn all the functions before you give up and buy a B- class synth for less effort.
