Like everyone says, the sounds are great and can be expanded

and the whole package is an incredible value (i just bought the

$1249 special at sam ash). but i really want to know the

bad/good differences, other than the obvious, between the

xp-80 and xp-50. for example, i heard that the xp-80's sequencer

malfunctions for a lot of people.

The sound as expected is GREAT (so are the patches)

The sequencer is a bit hard to catch and requires too

many key strokes (I was using an Ensoniq Seuencer -EPS's

and it was the easiest to master...)

The keyboard is nice not like my DX7's.

User interface (softwarewise - is clumsy too - a shame...)

But as a synth should sound good and a good sequencer can be bought apart the jury verdict is :::

This is the worst keyboard I've ever bought ! I have an ASR10 and the seqencer is much easier to use ! Sure, the sounds are good (real good with some tweaking!) , and so are the effects , but what good are the effects if 90% of the sounds leave you scraching you're head wondering what would i ever do with that , let alone putting effects to 'em. I've read alot of reviews about this board , that's what inspired me to buy it . Also the drum kits suck , they're all the same except for the kick and snare !!! If I had to do it all over agian I would buy somthing else!! IT'S PRETTY BAD WHEN ROLAND HAS TOO CHARGE $40 FOR A VIDEO TO TEACH YOU THE BASICS!!!!!!!!!!!

David Schow a hobbyist user from usa writes:
A Korg user before my xp I found it to be very difficult to understand the manual. The drum kits lack something and the bass sounds too! I bought this keyboard 3 years ago and would think twice about the same purchase. I have found some help on the net, but think I will have to pay someone to show me some of the tricks. For the Hobby-ist...make sure you read the comments before making a purchase!
