Todays wierd product from Winter Namm 2006 is the Williams Keytar V1. It is the hybrid child of a hammer action keyboard and an eighties rock guitar. Very weird looking but it does actually sound like a guitar (with after touch effects possible using the keyboard). The 12 string Keytar is built from folded aluminium sheet making it very light but somewhat angular.

You may well wonder what's it for - I did so when I asked the guy manning the booth.
He said "lots of kids and adults give up on learning the guitar because it's hard to get a good sound - it's much easier with the Keytar"

Well I can't comment on giving up learning guitar (it took my girl friend threatening to leave me to do that) but the Keytar certainly brings a novelty value to producing the guitar sound.

He did say that it's hammer action makes tearing out those metal riffs a dream! No hard fretting techniques needed when shreddin' with the Keytar V1, simply hit those keys and the kids will be howlin' at the sounds you produce.

Beefed up with a nasty distortion to give some depth to the sound I could maybe believe him.

The Williams Keytar V1 is built in the USA (a rarity in itself these days) and priced at $999. The Keytar V1 will be hitting music stores near you soon.
