We'd heard rumours, but not anything specific other than, "it takes ages to create these new voice models". So its true, the AIRA TR-8 drum machine (see our review) is going to get voice expansions via firmware. The new set is called the 7X7 TR-8 Drum Machine Expansion.
The AIRA TR-8 as we know, it a DSP modelled hardware drum machine capable (as it comes) of emulating the classic TR-808 and TR-909 drum machines. We were pretty impressed in our review - we A/B'd it with an original TR-808.
The new voice expansion add the sounds of the TR-707 and TR-727 drum machines faithfully recreated using original PCM wave date plus models if the original cicruitry. As well as the voides you also get the TR-909's specific 8-stage flam plus accent functions fo the 909 and 707. Additionally the TR-909 and TR-808 kits have been enhanced with new 808 kick, 909 snare and and new snap and clap models.
The new sound set requires a fimrware update to V1.11, and is a paid foro download from the Roland Content store, priced at €75
