Akai Adds Stem Separation To MPC

US Yes, in standalone - eventually      16/01/24

Akai have added Stem Separation to the MPC workflow  - and whats more, it works in standalone - or will.

Yeah, impressive, details are still thin on the ground, like what MPCs will it work on - all the standalones? Does it need network access? And if not, how the heck have they pulled this off?

So many questions, but what we do know is that its mentioned  as part of the "MPC Workflow".  Essentially take a sample, process to stems - separate (wait while it processes) then you have access to: Bass, Drums, Vocals, Other (user switchable if you dont want them all). The result is sent to a pad.  one layer for each stem - up to four.

You can also tweak and modify each sample layer, and sample slices can be exported across all layers simultaneously, which is pretty neat.

From the demo, it looks pretty good, though hold yer horses - its not ready yet, but coming soon - with MPC Software getting it first, then the standalones. You can register your interest here: https://www.akaipro.com/stems
