We met with the chaps at Redsound in the civilized calm of the Press Room where cakes and coffee were in plentiful supply. On the desk in front of us amid said cakes was the all new Darkstar XP-2. Redsound have had the boffins sweating on the the 8-voice Darkstar XP-2 which benefits from a new and improved software engine running on the Analog Devices chip set. Add to that a new manufacture process and the XP-2 sounds just that bit better all round. The XP-2 also features more outs (four to be precise) on standard ¼ inch jacks and a full-size headphone out. The much promised MegaMono update board is now available, giving you all eight voices in one huge blast for a super-fat sound. A further add-on vocoder board will enable you to turn the XP-2 into an 11-band vocoder and have you talking to your Darkstar in no time. The Darkstar XP-2 will ship in August with an expected street price of $299
