"Kyma X was like a major remodelling or renovation project," said Symbolic Sound president Carla Scaletti. "We stripped the software down to the rafters so we could make major structural changes and improvements--bring it 'up to code' so we could run under OS X and Windows XP. But once that was done we couldn't resist doing a bit of interior designing too: new icons, new fonts, new window elements--the first thing everyone comments on when they start up Kyma X is how great it looks, and the second thing they notice is how fast it runs."

A few highlights from the list of new features and enhancements include:

  • Newly designed, zoomable icons that are as meaningful as they are beautiful
  • Streamlined operations to improve the ease of use and reduce or eliminate the amount of typing required
  • A new book, Kyma X Revealed!, full of never-before-documented Kyma secrets to guide users through every aspect of the software through entertaining hands-on examples.
  • A drag-and-drop Expressions Library plus autocompletion, making it easy to create complex controls for any sound parameter
  • Enhancements to the spectral analysis and synchronization tools that deliver even more effective and natural-sounding audio morphs
  • Sound caching and partial-compilation to speed development in the Timeline
  • A new analog-emulation filter with tunable resonance
