Dean Guitars debuted more than 30 new items at this year's summer NAMM including the new Hardtail Standard and Select, a new line of electrics called the Vendetta, an upright bass called the Pace Bass and the limited edition Zen acoustic. Modelled after the famous USA Hardtail, both the Standard and Select have a set neck with molded heel, mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, Grover tuners and nickel hardware. The neck pickup is voiced for warmth and the bridge pickup is voiced for bite and clarity. Both pickups are coil tappable. The Hardtail Select has a solid flame maple top and is available in Trans Amber, Tiger Eye, Trans Red, Trans Blue and Trans Brazilia. List price on the Hardtail Select is $999. The Hardtail Standard list price is $749 and comes in your choice of 3 colors: Flip Pearl, Classic Black or Copper Orange. With four models to choose from the Vendettas have string through body design, classic Dean V Ferrule pattern, dual Humbuckers, 25.5 scale, and solid mahogany bodies with a maple neck with a rosewood finger board. The Vendetta 1.0 and 2.0 are both bolt on necks with black hardware and the 2.0 model has a solid flame maple top. The Vendetta 3.0 and 4.0 feature neck through construction with the eye catching razor wire inlay running from the bottom to the top of the fret board. Both the 3.0 and 4.0 have nickel hardware and the 4.0 version has a beautiful quilted maple top. The Vendetta retail prices range from $369 for the 1.0 to $799 for the 4.0 model. The Pace Bass is made of solid straight grain maple with a 35" scale and a Dean designed Piezo with buffer preamp, the Pace is available in 4 and 5 string models in a choice of 4 colors including Ice Blue, Metallic Red, Classic Black and Gloss Natural with a list price starting at $999. The Pace Bass has pearl dot inlays on the side for positioning and mounted on a stand with a ball joint making it very easy to move and groove with. The Zen acoustic is one of the most unique guitars on the market today. The Zen has a solid spruce top, maple back and sides accented with a beautiful tortoise shell binding, Grover oyster colored tuners, comes in a custom fit deluxe hard shell case and retails for $1,125. The fingerboard is maple with laser cut rosewood Chinese characters that stand for peace, beauty, wisdom grace courage clarity and enlightenment. Designed by Yvonne de Villiers, only 500 Zens will be made and each comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity. More info:
