Since Mackie have teamed up with the original makers of Traktion, things have moved on a pace. For starters, the package was offered as a free download, and was taken up by "a very great deal of people" according to Mackie. What drew users in was not only the fact that it was free (always a bonus) but that it is good. Simplicity and power being the two major factors. Traktion gave you unlimited audio tracks with plug-in compatibility, MIDI sequencing plus many other great features. But the good news is that it's easy to learn and configure so even the technically bereft stand a good chance of making music within a couple of hours, and not several weeks that can be the case with many other packages.
Even so, just take a look at the impressive list of new features:
Single screen interface Enhanced MIDI editor built-in sampler 64bit/192kHz support Rewire 2.0 support External sync QuickTime support - video playback MIDI controller mapping Integrated Mackie control support Loop recording Per track input Full screen metering Aux send and returns Track freezing Broadcast .WAV & Mackie HDR file import
