I was poking around Youtube late one night when I came across this bit of circuit bending video. Electric Pony has a slew of videos documenting his adventures in "wrong electronics", and this one features a drum-machine with the back off and two probes. I'm not totally clear what the original machine is, but it's a good illustration of how to just dive in there and try stuff and see what happens.
Best not to try this on anything that has a full mains power requirement as you’ll likely melt something – or yourself.
