We’ve all poked fun at the opulence of Korg’s monster flagship synth workstation OASYS and it’s mighty price tag, but the truth is it’s an amazing piece of work and secretly we’d all love one . People who can afford it, love it and unsurprisingly, as it packs a ton of synthesis power under the hood. Thing is, the system continues to be developed and this latest OS 1.3 proves that there’s still much that can be done. As well as the new OS, there’s a new set of Brass and woodwind samples to be loaded, Karma 2.1 – which is a significant upgrade, and numerous UI and navigational improvements. There’s also a working demo of a whole new FM synthesis engine in the form of the EX/MOD 7 Waveshaping VPM synthesizer - this can be unlocked for $249 at Korguser.net. The OASYS OS V 1.3 can be purchased for $149 at Korguser.net, although remember, you will need an actual Korg OASYS to make the most of it, unless you want to tape the receipt to your forehead look important – although you wont, you’ll just look like a chump.
