Sonic Sidekick release a VST drum synthesizer for Windows      08/05/09
Extreme DrumSynth

Sonic Sidekick have released Extreme DrumSynth, a VST drum synthesizer for Windows. Here's what they have to say about it... What Extreme DrumSynth can do:
  • Emulate acoustic drums and cymbals.
  • Recreate many of the sounds of classic drum machines.
  • Create custom sound effects.
How to synthesize drum sounds To build a sound:
  • Start by Layering and modulating up to 14 basic oscillators to create anything from a simple harmonic spectrum to a complex inharmonic spectrum.
  • Shape the sound as it passes through a custom resonant band-pass filter.
  • Mix in noise filtered through the same type of flexible band-pass filter to round out the sound.
  • Add movement by adding lfos and seperate envelopes to almost any combination of parameters.
  • Assign velocity and cc responses to any combination of parameters so that the sound responds well to your playing.
  • Finally, you can adjust the overall level, attack, release, and compressor settings to taste.
The end result:
a synthesized drum sound that is flexible, dynamic, sounds interesting, and responds well to your playing.
Pricing and Availability:
Extreme DrumSynth is available through June 1st at an introductory price of $35 (a saving of $25). More information:
