New music startup doubleTwist today introduced an application that might just beat Apple's iTunes at its own game.

The doubleTwist app, available for Mac & PC, lets you manage your digital media and play music on your computer, like iTunes.

Unlike iTunes, though, doubleTwist lets you sync to a massive list of devices, including:

  • BlackBerry
  • Sony PSP
  • Palm Pre
  • Archos 605
  • G1 and Magic Android phones
  • Sony Ericsson Walkman & Cybershot phones
  • Windows Mobile 5.0/6.0 platform
  • Motorola (V9 and V3xx) and most Razr phones
  • Sansa View and Sansa e200 series
  • Amazon Kindle
  • iPhone with 2.0 firmware
  • iPod
  • Most digital cameras
  • Most flash-memory-based camcorders are supported

doubleTwist lets you buy music via Amazon, too, and makes using Amazon for music just as easy as using iTunes.

Check out the video, above, to see how doubleTwist works.

doubleTwist pros:

  • Easy to use
  • Compatible with a lot of devices
  • Free to try out
  • One app for many platforms

doubleTwist cons:

  • Doesn't offer much for iPod/iTunes users
  • Music Store currently limited to US
  • Has a "version 1" feel to it
