Its Alive! Vintage Hammond Novachord Lives

Ancient electronic instrument lovingly restored      03/01/10

Some of you may remember Marc Doty (Automaticgainsay) and his labour of love restoring the incredible Hammond Novachord - an amazing instrument form the late 1930s, that was capable of some beautiful and eerie tones.

That instrument is now in the capable hands of Dan Wilson who is continuing the mammoth restoration project in his studio near Bath. God knows how much the shipping cost on this it weighs an enormous amount.

Hollow Sun are working on a set of sounds taken from the instrument - expect to hear them some time in the coming few months.

(thanks to @Failedmuso for the story)

This is a truly amazing achievement for 1939. Its almost like Ken Freeman getting thrown back in time by 35 years or so to create the string machine decades earlier. The sound is phenomenal. Can't wait for the sound sets...
