Tascam has introduced new DR-03, a new portable 24-bit stereo digital audio recorder that's about the size of a candy bar.

  • Auto-recording function starts when input exceeds a reference level
  • Limiter, low-cut filter, and auto gain control for input
  • Variable Speed Audition changes the playback speed without changing the pitch

  • USB 2.0 connection for file transfer
  • 1/8" stereo microphone / line input
  • 1/8" stereo headphone output
  • 96 x 96 backlit LCD display

I am thinking of buying a nice portable recorder for building up my found sound library. i am wondering though with units such as this and the offerings from yamaha and zoom are these tiny mics that are built in as good as the mics built into larger units like the zoom h4n? do you guys think that will make a large difference in the sound?
