Kuassa has announced the release of basiQ, a free 3-band equalizer plug-in with photorealistic graphics. basiQ is an acronym for Baxandall Simulation Equalizer and the plug-in's engine is modeled after a design of classic baxandall equalizer, well known for its smooth shelves and natural-sounding responses.
Kuassa says that this straightforward equalizer is well-suited for mixing or mastering purposes, although the neutral characteristics of basiQ are more suitable as a sweetening device or giving some transparent tilt to your mix rather than being used as a surgical device. They say that it is best paired across the master output with their Kratos Maximizer plug-in.
