This looks and sounds awesome--and all analog?? Jesus. A complete 180 degree turn from the Origin, and not a moment too soon!

For the price this thing is a monster. I love the sound of a Steiner Parker filter (best high pass filter in the industry). Lots of knobs and sliders. I hope to see a 61 key version. Cannot wait to play this baby.

funkdefino    Said...

Leave it to Arturia to make an analog synth that sounds as thin and lifeless as a plugin.

loneraver    Said...

Oh damn! This looks very interesting. I want to hear what it sounds unmixed but as that price I'm very excited.

Now this is something else! Looks like it should, and the sound in the clip is sounds so lush. Can't wait to have a go with it!

I have the suspect Arturia is licensing some of their french analog manufacturing friends. (for e.g. Shruti and Xoxbox) Pretty cool idea - else I couldn`t understand why the Big 3 have such a big deal not bringing another VA or Rompler.

19-Jan-12 06:06 PM

Gaz    Said...

Wow! This is exactly the right product someone should be making and I find it highly interesting that Arturia are the ones doing it. They have a great track record with soft synths and unquestionably the whole Origin thing will have taught them loads about product design and how bitchy the webosphere is about stuff! Way to go our French cousins!

loneraver    Said...

After listening to the demos on their website I have to say that the sound is very bright and aggressive but not very warm. It might be a good lead sound but I don't see myself using this for bass sounds.

19-Jan-12 08:13 PM

Phil    Said...

I'm very curious about this one. To me it sounds like a sort-of-mutant between a pro-one and an ms-20.

19-Jan-12 08:25 PM

Ted    Said...

Wow! I have been waiting for something nearly this good for the price, I thought it would be Korg's next Mono-series entry. The Minibrute has 99% of what I'd like in an analog mono synth. True osc sync and wood side panels would be my only wish list features.

19-Jan-12 09:34 PM

xyzzy    Said...

I guess there isn't much to sync when there's only one oscillator. :P

20-Jan-12 12:21 AM

DBM    Said...

@ nickB any plans for larger or even keyless models ?

That said this is a huge surprise . The OSC options make it redundant to be more than 1 OSC , thank god not another Moog clone filter . Sounds very aggressive . I think I need it . Still can't get over the fact it comes from the guys with the most tame plugins dongles can buy ... Crazy

20-Jan-12 06:13 AM

robgs    Said...

For all it's features that video sucked - let's play one sound while a guy who can't keep track of time, set an alarm, shut his front door or has no sense of direction runs around town...

20-Jan-12 07:13 AM

xyzzy    Said...

I like the (perhaps unintentional) subtle message in the video: leave your laptop at home.. grab a real synth!

20-Jan-12 11:13 AM

Ted    Said...

xyzzy: OK, let's toss another osc in there and call it perfect.

20-Jan-12 12:35 PM

xyzzy    Said...

To clarify: I was not saying that one oscillator is not enough. ;)

This and a Minitaur and I can start my own demolition company... drool!

I would prefer a combination of both digital and analog all in one with the option of saving your sounds into presets. But this looks like a fun type of keyboard to play around with. I would prefer a full size 61 note dynamic/after touch keyboard. I like having linear type of sliders to work with than just knobs, which gives you a fuller range to work with. Great video!

TerryDilov 22-Apr-12 06:14 PM

Great sound, oh yeah!

newtonlkh 14-Apr-12 08:48 PM

I dont drink starbucks and dont use apple and i like this synth BUT I LIKE YOUR COMMENT

BryanSzalecki 28-Mar-12 08:46 PM

that was cool

TWMusicBerlin 17-Mar-12 12:30 AM

YEAH finally, ANALOG is back! and now please roland and korg, make some nice synths like this again, thats what we want!! =)

bopekno 11-Mar-12 03:59 PM

Fuck, I need this.

terrormech 15-Feb-12 09:35 AM

while this commercial is 'neat and hip' or whatever the synth has a one voice polyphony. that's all i want to hear, this synth by itself with no effects/mastering.

2009korte 09-Feb-12 01:46 PM

for starbucks-apple fanboyz

trevnty 08-Feb-12 12:39 PM

yea right, looks like a fuckin midi controller! nice knobs and faders rofl

tomtefar1988 07-Feb-12 10:21 PM

that would be impossible without motorized faders and knobs. and that would turn up the price a lot. back in the days, people didn't use presets anyway x)

kingofkeyboards 07-Feb-12 10:03 PM

to be honest though, if they made a key version of the minitaur I'd be sold completely. Just personal opinion but Moog is the business for me :) Love this synth nevertheless.

TheTomthemagic 07-Feb-12 05:50 AM

It' seem to good to be real, the only problem with this amazing new synth is that you can't load preset via usb and it doesn't come with a software editor or something like that where you could store preset on a computer. It sound like a ton of brick thought.

c2mojo 04-Feb-12 08:54 PM

That's it I am getting this and a Minitaur and CV them together. That's still cheaper than a Phatty

IAmBound 02-Feb-12 09:41 PM

Me too, on both points. I'm still definitely buying it.

MarctheDarc 02-Feb-12 12:46 PM

Yeah, although i'd prefer the switches. And they could rig up something like holdning down the 2 transpose buttons at the same time and pressing a key will select the MIDI-channel. Shouldnt be too hard or expensive. But all things considered, i think they made a decent compromise in design, and i like the value for money.

IAmBound 02-Feb-12 02:42 AM

Seriously 2 more switches can't break the budget that much. But hey maybe someone (or even arturia themselves) will make an Ipod app that can change these settings.

MarctheDarc 01-Feb-12 03:52 AM

I think that the legato in particular is a pity, but also the LFO-retrigger since it's actually fairly useful for some things. And to some miniscule extend also the MIDI-channel selection. Certainly it's not a deal-breaker, but just seems a bit at odds with the main idea behind it, and 2 buttons/toggles cant be that grim an addition... To your other message: 12dB did make more sense, guess they need to slap the presenter ;-) i have since read up on the history, but thanks for info ^^

IAmBound 01-Feb-12 02:57 AM

Yeah I finally found it. It's not that big of a deal to me though since those are settings I hardly change anyways. (Excluding the Legato which is kind of a pity). But even then I don't change that too often. It's hands on enough for me to fiddle around into the wee hours of the night which is enough for me. When I first heard about it, I though it would be some major issues like arp settings.

MarctheDarc 01-Feb-12 01:28 AM

It is actually mentioned in the overview video. Also there's a screenshot on their webpage showing exactly which features are involved. So it's not as hands on as they want it to sound... Pity too...

IAmBound 01-Feb-12 01:08 AM

There's features that are only software? From what I could tell from their site everything is completely hands-on.

liqube 31-Jan-12 02:21 AM

fantastic :o)

Lordamum4d 30-Jan-12 10:56 PM

Qustion: Can you step the arpeggiator with the gate in using analogue gear?

curly430 30-Jan-12 10:16 PM

dude needs a car....

MarctheDarc 30-Jan-12 07:27 PM

Excellent idea, great sound, great value! Thank you Arturia! I have but 1 boggle, and that's the few features/settings that can only be done via computer software. Such things is always a liability since eventually you'll come to a point where the software stops working since the computerworld never stops moving. And it's an odd choice when so much of the design is about immediacy, and not needing an editor... Have you considered doing a module-version even cheaper? Would be nice too!

anguskahn22 30-Jan-12 04:03 AM

This is probably one of the best ads for an instrument, it really makes me want to get it.

IAmBound 30-Jan-12 01:03 AM

I don't care that much about the sequencer but the lack of memory kind of makes me go :( of course it's only 499 USD

decaystar 29-Jan-12 07:12 PM

This has 2 lacks, thats needed to make it perfect. 1.There is no memory, so you have to carry around with patchsheets if you want to play live with it. 2.They gave it a arpeggiator but why not also a sequencer similar to Roland sh-101?

jmb102093 28-Jan-12 02:22 PM

daddy like

audiotrax2000 26-Jan-12 07:57 PM

VERY well done music gear commercial. They should get some kind of advertising award for that. Now give us the next model with 2 osc, 8 note polyphony (a larger keyboard) and a reasonable price and maybe we can have the new Jupiter 8 we've been asking for, for years. Roland can then cry their hearts out. So there.

orientalflux 26-Jan-12 07:20 AM

i need polyphony , multi-timbral, same knobs and faders, 49 keys with the same price.. :D

tpmfoo11 25-Jan-12 06:30 AM

549 us, 449 euro!

theeltea 25-Jan-12 02:39 AM

Final question: HOW MUCH?

theeltea 25-Jan-12 02:37 AM

Am I the only one who thinks that the filter doesn't quite sound as great as it should? The machine looks very nice, but definitely needs more demos before I'll consider it. It sure does look like it can replace the SH-101.

Oweng40000 24-Jan-12 10:58 PM

It's all a matter of opinion but as far as i'm concerned this one sounds so much better than the minitaur its not even funny.

tanninyouth 24-Jan-12 09:20 PM

WANT

CamdenSounds 24-Jan-12 12:14 PM

MiniBrute sounds amazing, big sound typical of a monophonic synth. Very Minimoog-ish sounding in the flesh. Really good price, possibly the best monosynth out there now.

ilsennodipoi 24-Jan-12 10:53 AM

I looked at the home page and it said that it would cost 500 € which sounds OK even though it would be nice to have an extra octave of keys.

MUBsMusic 24-Jan-12 04:06 AM

I'm concerned this synth might not be loud enough if you can hear your casio watch alarm while playing on your headphones. =P

Berryjiveuptown5 23-Jan-12 02:23 PM

but SOUNDS 1000% shittier.

bassbasstwotwo 23-Jan-12 12:02 PM

will it be possible to send values via midi? so in a live situation i can send the values of a special sound an the minibrute will play that? i don't want to fiddle around and try to find the right bass tone in a live situation...

OnlyOmari 23-Jan-12 06:17 AM

Impressed! will be looking into this when it comes out

Systemist 23-Jan-12 05:47 AM

Okay... if anyone wondering about the quality of sound hasn't done so... go listen to the demos on the arturia website... little player, top-left.

Tried throwing my wallet at the screen :)

CTRLSHFT 23-Jan-12 01:53 AM

If there ever was an analog synth to auto-buy, this is it.

DJKevWest 22-Jan-12 08:59 PM

This looks great! The demo sounds great. I can make some nice lush R&b leads on this

ajantred 22-Jan-12 03:56 PM

Awesome demo, loving the Steiner filter clone too :D Probably one of my favourite filters because of it's angry, warbling sound XD Kinda wish it had an extra octave but meh, it's cool :D

martebar 22-Jan-12 03:30 PM

Héhé, bien joué la pub à Grenoble. Comme vous allez la mettre à Dave Smith et à Moog avec un analog de qualité à ce prix là!

djstevenking 22-Jan-12 01:54 PM

did not see him grab a laptop

TheElectroHoneys 22-Jan-12 01:40 PM

Big fan off Arturia product. And i want this !

bassbasstwotwo 22-Jan-12 09:31 AM

so when i buy this - people will be dancing to my music? i think i'm gonna buy one!

bassbasstwotwo 22-Jan-12 09:28 AM

if the bass sound is right - i am going to buy one!
