I dont know how I missed this from late last year, but legend Vangelis performed at the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations in Qatar. He was asked to create some music to enhance the gathering and help spread a message of hope to the world.
To accompany this he agreed to do a TV interview, his first for more than 20 years. He makes some interesting points about the role of music in todays society as well as the more spiritual aspects of music.
As well as performing some of his greatest hits (Chariots of Fire etc) a new piece was performed, with what looks like a full orchestra and choir with the obligatory childrens section.
Its an interesting insight into his life and state of mind, by Al Jazeera.
