Last week Heaven 17 were in town for a date on their Luxury Gap tour. This is a new tour format where bands recreate and tour specific albums with a live band. Heaven 17 never did tour that album - this project was very much a studio and video project - this was conceived at around the same time MTV was.
The Luxury Gap was one of those seminal albums of its time, with Glenn Gregory's baritone soul voice, some great session keyboard work, with Martyn Ware's electronic pop genius. Martyn Ware was also a founder member of the Human League, leaving before they hit the real pop spotlight, but you really should check out Reproduction - its an electronic classic.
Before the show, Martyn was kind enough to spare some time to talk to us about his rig, synthesizers and upcoming studio projects.
