At last weeks Microsoft //Build/ conference, there was a session devoted to the creation of Music and Audio Apps for the Microsoft Store titled:

Building great music creation apps for Windows Store

People love expressing themselves by creating music on their mobile devices. This talk will briefly discuss why creative apps are important and how you can build the best music creation apps on Windows. We will show several of the top music creation apps today using new Windows features, how you can use these new features, and what Microsoft is doing in the future to make the experience even better.

Senior Program Managers Pete Brown and Jason Olson talk about the new direction to get Microsoft Tablet apps to talk MIDI and audio natvely.

Its a long, technical presentation but it shows proimise for the development of the Windows platform for creative purposes.

I don't see myself buying anything from the windows app store until they fix the mess they made of using a firewire audio interface in win8.
