Welcome to another episode of sonic TOUCH - the show dedicated to music creation on the touchscreen device.

We're looking at a couple of very different synthesizers today - first up is Apesoft's iVCS3 - a recreation of the classic and slight bonkers Putney VCS3 - very scientific and last century, and also the Cakewalk Z3tA+ wavetable synth which is an iPad version of their plug-in synth that is a mainstay of many EDM and dubstep producers.

  • iVCS3 - Apesoft £10.49/$14.99
  • Z3tA+ - Cakewalk £13.99/$19.99

The desktop version is really worth getting. Especially if you use a larger touch screen monitor or two.

This IVCS3 review must be your worst review yet.

It was one big RTFM error.

To me the IVCS is a very distinct sounding synth. Somewhat similar to Arturia ISEM.

In a time where many plugin synths all try to do the same supersaws, this is really different.

Why haven't you tried to make a preset ? just 3 oscillators, a filter and an envelope like you use to do with other synths ?

An since it is compatible with audiobus, why not use the recording option of Audioshare that you told about in an earlier program ?

You acted like this is some strange outer category synth, unusable for normal stuff, but is actually is very usable and the restictions of the ipad apply to all ipad apps, not just this one.

I'm a big fan of you both, but you can do better than this...

Apple recently released an ad showing a composer developing ideas on an iPad, featuring the Notion, Pianist Pro, and The Orchestra apps. Could you guys do a show reviewing these apps? See: https://www.apple.com/your-verse/orchestrating-sound/
