Colin Benders is someone you may not have heard of outside of the Netherlands. Under his project the Kyteman Orchestra he has great success. His first album "The Hermit Sessions" sold over 75,000 copies and won all the major music prizes in the Netherlands.
But in the week I have just spent within the confines of Studio Stekker and Kytopia there was almost no mention of Colin's previous success. Instead I found him on numerous occasions sweating over a massive modular system which he was to perform on at Friday's Modulation event.
Studio Stekker and Kytopia is something I believe could probably only happen in the Netherlands. A unique set of circumstances are combined to create a collaborate event with almost no rules.
In this video Colin explains some of the philosophy behind the event and how it all started.
