Yamaha's Montage we saw at NAMM, whats under the hood is quite impressive - 128 voices of AWM2 synth engine,  which in itself boasts 8 insert effects per part and more, plus the 8-Operator synth engine - like a classic FS1-R FM synth but as well as the AWM2 voices. This thing is so deep that its hard to get into the depth of the synth engine without talking to a developer. But the other aspect to this synth is the performance aspect. Yamaha have gone for making the super complex engine playable in a live or creative situation. Dig deeper and you'll be able to to see the power.

We caught up with Bert Smørenburg first thing Sunday morning - hence our croaky voices,  to get his take on the new Yamaha super synth.
