VR is touted as the next big thing with all the large tech companies pouring investment into it. But for music creators, its a slow burner, though there are projects that utilize the new hardware (DeepMind editor for Microsoft Hololens), its not taken hold and caused the explosion in application and take up that music creation apps did for the iOS market.

But, we just got sent this  link from Jim Simons, who's new app aliveinvr, uses the HTC Vive to create a bridge between the VR interface and Ableton's Live.

The results we think are impressive, a great job of UI programming from Jim and the responsiveness seems to be way better than many we have seen before.

Jim said: "It uses an HTC Vive connected to Ableton on Windows via a MIDI loopback driver (you can wire it via network midi to OSX to run Ableton remotely as well). Standard high end VR set up.

It's on sale at £8.99 this week and then £9.99 from then on on the Steam Store. http://store.steampowered.com/app/674180/AliveInVR/"

The HTC Vive, costs around 750 in the UK so does still represent a significant investment, but maybe Jim's work wil help takeup and then reduce cost.
