PreSonus has released version 1.9 firmware for its StudioLive Series III digital consoles and rack mixers. The update includes enhanced support for PreSonus AVB networked products, including the EarMix 16M and NSB-series stage boxes, as well as improving mixer performance. All StudioLive Series III console and rack mixer owners are strongly encouraged to update their firmware to version 1.9 to take advantage of the performance improvements.

PreSonus also announced that for a limited time, users of StudioLive Series III consoles and rack mixers can download the company’s Vintage Channel Strips Bundle of Fat Channel plug-ins for free. The Vintage Channel Strips Bundle comprises four emulations of highly regarded vintage audio processors: Classic Compressor, Vintage 3-Band EQ, Tube P1B Compressor, and Tube Midrange EQ.

A spokesperson told us, "Utilizing state-of-the-art State Space Modeling technology, engineers at PreSonus Software Ltd. in Hamburg, Germany, closely modeled the sound and response of the original hardware processors, including every circuit, harmonic, and nuance. These plug-ins load in a StudioLive Series III console or rack mixer’s Fat Channel, expanding the Fat Channel processor library much like plug-ins do in a DAW. Each plug-in comes in both StudioLive Series III format and Studio One format so you can use them in both mixer and DAW Fat Channels. There are no DSP limitations on the number of plug-in instances, and the plug-ins can be used on every input channel."
