Producer Steve Evans has been taking a look at the Universal Apollo X8P.
Part of that process included a session recording drums for The Bowie Collective project - forensically recreating the sound of the classic recordings. In this case it was Aladdin Sane, and Steve usually uses his Pro Tools HDX system together with the Prism ADA-8XR, top of the range mastering grade convertors (about £6K for 8 channels).
After spending time with the Apollo X, we chatted to Steve about how it was to use, how it sounded compared to what he usually uses.
In addition we filmed a piece of the drum recording session where the Apollo X8P was used to track the kit using a variety of microphones.
The UA Apollo X series comes in a variety of flavours, all with 6-cores of DSP, and Thunderbolt 3 connectivity.
